Huawei Nova Flip presented as a fashionable folding phone

Huawei has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone, the Huawei Nova Flip. This is the company's first entry into the compact flip phone market. Huawei is known for its stylish devices and therefore presents the phone as a fashion choice. It is available in bold color variants.

The main advantages of the Huawei Nova Flip phone

The new Nova Flip is not just about looks. This foldable phone also packs decent hardware specs. Its Waterdrop hinge mechanism is also an interesting feature. It has been thoroughly tested by the Swiss company SGS and can handle over a million folds. Nova Flip is thin and light, measuring just 6.88 mm when unfolded and weighing just 195 grams.

Huawei's new foldable phone boasts two displays. Next to the two cameras is a compact 2.14-inch OLED cover display. Inside, users will find a larger 6.94-inch main LTPO OLED display with FHD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The cover screen is handy for taking selfies with the main camera and checking basic information such as weather, music and calendar.

The Huawei Nova Flip is also equipped with a capable camera system. Its main attraction is the 50MP camera with a large 1/1.56-inch RYYB sensor. The latter is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 32MP front camera for taking selfies.

Although Huawei hasn't officially revealed the chipset or RAM, the Geekbench listing suggests that the Nova Flip uses the Kirin 8000 processor. This chip also powers the Huawei Nova 12 and 12 Pro.

On the software front, the phone runs on HarmonyOS 4.2, which offers smart features like object removal, image text extraction, and image generation. The device is powered by a battery with a capacity of 4,400 mAh and 66W fast charging.

Nova Flip comes in four stylish colors: New Green, Sakura Pink, Zero White, and Starry Black. Pricing starts at CNY 5,288 ($744) for the 256GB model. The Huawei Nova Flip will be available in China from August 10.
