Xiaomi 17 Debuts with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 7,000mAh Battery

The Xiaomi 17 has officially arrived, becoming the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Alongside its new processor, Xiaomi’s latest flagship brings a host of improvements, including a massive 7,000mAh battery, upgraded cameras, and a sleek new design. With pricing starting at just $630 in China, the Xiaomi 17 is set to compete directly with other flagship smartphones from Samsung and Apple.

Powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with Massive Battery

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi 17 is its 7,000mAh silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery, which contains up to 16% silicon content for better efficiency. It supports 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and up to 22.5W reverse wireless charging, giving users unmatched flexibility.

To keep things cool, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is paired with a large 4,497mm² vapor chamber, ensuring smooth performance during intensive gaming and multitasking.

Brilliant Display and Sleek Design

The Xiaomi 17 sports a 6.3-inch M10 LTPO OLED display with a sharp 1,220 × 2,656 resolution and a dynamic 1–120Hz refresh rate. It boasts 3,500 nits peak brightness and comes protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass. Bezels have been reduced to just 1.18mm on all sides, giving the phone an immersive viewing experience.

The device features a flat aluminum frame, IP68 water and dust resistance, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner embedded under the screen. Available colors include black, white, blue, and pink.

Advanced Triple-Camera System

On the rear, the Xiaomi 17 is equipped with a triple 50MP camera setup: a 17mm ultrawide lens, a 23mm main sensor powered by the Light Hunter 950 (1/1.31”), and a 60mm telephoto lens with 2.6x optical zoom. The front camera has been upgraded to 50MP for high-quality selfies and video calls.

This camera system, combined with Xiaomi’s imaging software, positions the Xiaomi 17 as one of the strongest photography flagships in 2025.

Performance, Software, and Storage

Backed by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Xiaomi 17 comes with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. It ships with HyperOS 3, Xiaomi’s latest software designed to enhance system fluidity, AI capabilities, and cross-device integration.

Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi 17 comes in three configurations:

• 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: CNY 4,499 (~$630)
• 12GB RAM + 512GB storage: CNY 4,799 (~$672)
• 16GB RAM + 512GB storage: CNY 4,999 (~$700)

Pre-orders are already live in China, with official shipments starting on September 27. A global launch announcement is expected soon.
