The iPhone 18 Pro camera lens could mark a historic turning point for Apple. According to fresh leaks, Apple is preparing its most dramatic iPhone redesign yet, combining a corner-positioned selfie camera, hidden Face ID, and a professional-grade variable aperture lens that behaves like a real DSLR camera.

If these reports are accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro will be Apple’s boldest visual and photographic leap since the removal of the home button.
A new report from The Information claims Apple will abandon its long-standing centered cutout design. Instead, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to move the selfie camera to the top-left corner of the display.

This would be the first iPhone in history without a centrally placed notch or Dynamic Island. While Android phones have used corner punch-holes for years, this move represents a major shift away from Apple’s carefully marketed “Island” identity.
One of the biggest upgrades coming to the iPhone 18 Pro is under-display Face ID. Apple is reportedly using HIAA (Hole in Active Area) technology to hide most Face ID sensors beneath the AMOLED panel.
This means users will see only a small circular cutout for the selfie camera, resulting in a much cleaner and more immersive screen — ideal for gaming, movies, and reading.
The rear camera may receive the biggest upgrade yet. Leaks suggest Apple is finally introducing a variable aperture system for the 48MP Fusion camera — a feature common in professional cameras but rare in smartphones.
Unlike today’s fixed f/1.78 lens, this mechanical system would allow physical control over light intake, pushing iPhone photography closer to mirrorless and DSLR cameras.
The same leak confirms Apple’s long-rumored foldable phone, unofficially dubbed iPhone Fold, will debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro in September 2026.
The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 7.7-inch internal display with a wide, book-style design and a smaller 5.3-inch outer screen. Pricing is rumored to exceed $2,000, positioning it as Apple’s most expensive phone ever.
Interestingly, Face ID may be skipped entirely on the foldable model. Instead, Apple could bring back Touch ID integrated into the power button, similar to the iPad Air.
Apple is also expected to change its launch schedule. Reports indicate that only the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and Fold will arrive in late 2026.
The standard iPhone 18 and the rumored iPhone 17e may be delayed until spring 2027. This strategy could push more buyers toward Apple’s premium models during the initial launch window.
