Qualcomm has announced four new platforms for mobile devices - Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G, SD695 5G, SD480 Plus 5G and SD680 4G in high, medium and introductory levels. The company says these mobile platforms will offer increased performance and capabilities to provide OEMs with additional options to help meet existing demand.
Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 778G Plus 6nm SoC is an enhanced version of the Snapdragon 778G with enhanced GPU and CPU performance. It has a Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU that brings higher performance up to 2.5 GHz compared to 2.4 GHz at 778G. There is the Adreno 642L GPU, which will offer up to 20% faster graphics performance compared to the previous generation, the company says. The other specifications remain the same.
Snapdragon 695 5G Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 695 8nm SoC is the successor to last year's Snapdragon 690 platform that uses a Qualcomm Kryo 660 processor with speeds of up to 2.2 GHz compared to its predecessor Kryo 560 2 GHz cores. It promises up to 15% improvement from the previous generation. It also has a Qualcomm Adreno 619 GPU that promises up to a 30% increase in GPU performance compared to its predecessor. Unlike the Snapdragon 690 which only has 5G support under 6, this also brings mmWave 5G support to the 6 Series.
Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 480G Plus 8nm SoC is an enhanced version of the Snapdragon 480 with enhanced GPU and CPU performance. This has a Qualcomm Kryo 480 CPU that brings higher performance up to 2.2 GHz compared to 2 GHz at 480. There is the Adreno 619 GPU, which is the fastest in the 4 series, according to the company. The other specifications remain the same. The new Snapdragon 680 6nm SoC uses Qualcomm Kryo 265 CPU with clock speeds up to 2.4 GHz, Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU, Qualcomm Spectra 346 Triple ISP and Snapdragon X11 LTE modem. Qualcomm says the SoC 6nm will offer a 20% improvement in overall battery performance from its predecessor. It also has Quick Charge 3.0 support.
