End titles for Facebook, meet "Meta"

Facebook held a live event today to talk about "transverse", also known as the evolution of virtual and augmented reality of social technology in the future, and as part of the presentation, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new name for the company. From now on, the company's Facebook will be known as "Meta", while Facebook will still be available as a social media product along with WhatsApp and Instagram.

Zuckerberg said Facebook's brand is too limited to represent what the company wants to do in the future. The new name and the new brand will represent Facebook applications and its evolving work in augmented and virtual reality products. The name is intended to "reflect who we are and what we hope to do," Zuckerberg said. "Over time, I hope they see us as a metaverse company."

"From now on, we will be… metaverse first, not Facebook first," said Zuckerberg. "I hope that people will know the Meta brand and the future we represent."
