Xiaomi and Oppo are testing 200 W charging technology

Charging phones is getting faster and faster. There are phones on the market today that support really fast charging with a power of 120 W. The 160 W charging, which was demonstrated last year by the Infinix brand or the 200 W HyperCharge technology from Xiaomi, is no exception . However, it is true that neither 160 W charging nor 200 W charging is used commercially yet. Security risks are still significantly high.

What the imminent future of an extremely fast cable charging with a power of 200 W can look like outlined at the Chinese Weibo tipper Digital Chat Station. The tipper states that Xiaomi and Oppo are currently dealing with such a fast charge. They are testing it for commercial use and the results may come soon. It is said that it is likely that one of the future phones of one or the other company will receive such a charge. And if not, at least there will be a separate 200 W charging adapter on the market.

Recall that, for example, the 200 W cable charge demonstrated by Xiaomi last year on the Mi 11 Pro phone was able to charge a 4000 mAh battery from zero to 100% in just 8 minutes. At the same time, 50% of this super fast technology took only 3 minutes, and from zero to 10%, the phone charged in a record 44 seconds. This speed is at least staggering on paper, but the risks of charging are great and also the battery gets really busy. So there is a need to minimize risk and overheating, and that takes time. Therefore, even a well-known tipper does not dare to estimate when this technology, or a 200 W charger, will appear on the market.
