Chemistry lessons from OnePlus and OPPO
Last year's integration of OnePlus, fully under the auspices of OPPO, brought, in addition to merging development and marketing, one other, very significant intervention. The source code of the systems of both brands was also integrated, so that these previously very different platforms came significantly closer. Of course, this brought with it a real wave of displeasure for fans, especially OnePlus , because the software side of things was often the reason for them to buy this phone. OPOS's ColorOS is simply different ale. But some time ago, the merged companies announced work on a completely new unified unified system. Which, according to the latest reports, should be named H2O OS.
The information comes from the well-known Indian tipster Mukula Sharma and OnePlus and OPPO thus gives us a rather funny chemistry lesson. The name of the new system makes sense to OnePlus fans, because the company's system was originally called Hydrogen OS (for China) and Oxygen OS (for global markets). And because the combination of hydrogen and oxygen creates water (H₂O.), H2OOS is created here with a rather funny pun. An interesting feature of the new nomenclature is the zero historical reference to ColorOS from OPPO, because the new unified system named only follows OnePlus. Maybe it's a service to the fans and a pity for the gods.
It was also originally speculated that the new unified system should still be easily adapted to the different needs of OnePlus and OPPO phones. Personally, however, I do not consider it sustainable in the long run, and again, the top companies tried to calm the turbulent public opinion. In any case, the project of the unified system is already in the final phase and H2OOS should be presented to the public in the coming months. We can then only hope that this intervention will not bury the good in the OnePlus software history.
