Snapdragon 8 Gen2 can be introduced in November
After the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor, which the company introduced last year at the beginning of December / December, this year we will see the second generation of this chipset. That is, the second generation according to the new nomenclature, which Qualcomm also introduced last year. It will be a Snapdragon 8 Gen2, on which some of the manufacturers are already grinding their teeth in the summer
A few days ago, tipsters even reported that Xiaomi is already working on the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro phones. And it is for these phones that he wants to use the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor. According to tipsters, the manufacturer will introduce the phones earlier, specifically sometime at the end of November/November. And that would mean two things. First of all, Qualcomm will launch the second generation Snapdragon 8 earlier than usual. And then also the fact that Xiaomi's flagship phones will be the first to get the new chipset.
WHEN WILL SNAPDRAGON 8 GEN2 ARRIVE?
And in connection with the earlier introduction of the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, tipsters came across an interest. Qualcomm probably inadvertently announced the date of the launch of the processor, at the moment when it also published the date of the regular Snapdragon Tech summit on its website . It will allegedly take place from 14 to 17 November. Recall that last year's summit took place at the turn of November and December. But then Qualcomm withdrew the trailer for the summit from its website.
Of course, this could just be a false alarm and the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will debut later than mid-November. However, it is clear that this is a clear signal that a fight will take place again in the autumn, which of the manufacturers will present their flagship phone with this chipset first. We already know about Xiaomi, but Motorola, which took the lead last year, will certainly appear in the game. In addition, we don't know much about the upcoming processor yet. Perhaps only that it will be produced by the Taiwanese foundry TSMC with its 4nm production technology. Its designation is SM8550 and it has a rather unusual architecture of 1/2/2/3 cores spread over four clusters. In terms of cores, we are talking about one Cortex-X3 core, two Cortex-A720 cores, two Cortex-A710 cores and three Cortex-A510 cores.
