Oppo Watch 3 will be the first watch with Snapdragon W5 Gen1
Yesterday, Qualcomm introduced two new processors that are tailor-made for wearable devices. These are Snapdragon W5 Gen1 and Snapdragon W5+ Gen1 chipsets. Already during the introduction, the manufacturer indicated that both new chipsets will appear in the first watches this year and specifically mentioned chronometers by Oppo and Mobvoi. Barely a few hours passed and information appeared on the TalkAndroid website that the Oppo Watch 3 with Snapdragon W5 Gen1 is already in preparation and will be launched at the end of next month.
Vice President of Oppo, Mr. Franco Li, also commented on the upcoming Oppo Watch 3. However, his statement is very formal and he has not yet revealed any details about the watch's specifications. That is, perhaps except for the fact that he confirmed the use of the Snapdragon W5 Gen1 processor. They claim that it is this new chipset that will take wearables to a new higher level. Since they are talking about the Oppo Watch 3 series, it is likely that there will be more than just one new watch. He also mentions the very good performance of the upcoming watch, which will be ensured by the new Qualcomm processor.
We do not yet know whether Oppo will present the Oppo Watch 3 globally or only in the Chinese market. But it would certainly be a good thing as wearables have recently gained a lot of popularity among users around the world. Additionally, Qualcomm's new processors will certainly increase the competitiveness of wearables as they promise better performance and battery life.
Finally, it should be mentioned that Mobvoi is also working on its new watch, but it intends to use the premium Snapdragon W5+ Gen1 chipset. But the next generation TicWatch will arrive later, probably sometime in the fall. In any case, it will be the first premium watch with this new "plus" chipset. Even representatives of Mobvoi promise excellent performance, long battery life and lots of innovations. In both cases, let's be surprised by what the watch will offer and how it will perform in real life.
