The very first smartwatch from Google has a really eventful history. They have been speculated about for many years and the development has really dragged on for an extremely long time. Anyway, the long wait is over as the Pixel Watch became official at yesterday's showcase. In addition to the new phones of the Pixel 7 series, the American giant introduced another trump ace. In addition, this is to become a showcase for the new generation of the WearOS 3.5 system. But the question remains whether it will find its place in the saturated market in this category.
But Google certainly has very good prerequisites for this, because it has behind it the power and know-how of the absorbed Fitbit. Pixel Watch thus has many functions and options, known from the past precisely from watches and bracelets of the Fitbit brand. The customer will also receive 6 months of Fitbit Premium subscription for free and 3 months of Youtube Premium. Small details, but definitely pleasing.
The Pixel Watch comes on the market with a uniform size of 41mm dial (or display), but in the package you have two sizes of silicone band to choose from. Of course, other leather or metal straps will be available as extra accessories. The display itself is a 1.2-inch OLED with 320 PPI, brightness of up to 1000 nits, Always-on function and special 3D Gorilla Glass cover. The display is, of course, touchscreen, but there is also a control wheel on the side. The body of the watch is metal and of course it is water resistant to 5ATM. In terms of size, it is not really a giant with a weight without a strap of only 36 g and a thickness of 12.3 mm.
The Samsung Exynos 9110 chipset with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory will take care of the performance. So it's not a new Tensor, but a relatively "bearded" Exynos. In any case, the performance will not be bad and the watch also has a Cortex M33 co-processor for energy saving. Of course, there are also measuring ECG sensors, which are among the most accurate on the market. The presence of an NFC chip for payments using Google Pay is also very pleasing. And the GPS chip was not forgotten either. There is also a choice between the Wi-Fi version and the more expensive LTE variant. The battery with a capacity of 294 mAh can handle up to 24 hours of operation, but unfortunately there is no wireless charging.
In terms of price, the Pixel Watch comes to 379 euros for the Wi-Fi version and 429 euros for the LTE version. There will also be a choice of several colors of the body of the watch itself, golden champagne, matte black or polished silver.
