Motorola surprised us last year by outpacing all smartphone manufacturers and being the first to launch a model with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor. It was the Moto Edge X30 phone , which debuted on the Chinese market shortly after the chipset was launched. We don't know if it will be able to take the lead again this year, but it is certain that the Moto X40 model will indeed be one of the first phones with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor.
The fact that the Moto X40 phone is in the works was indicated a few days ago by tipsters who estimated some of its specifications. And also the head of the mobile division of the Lenovo Group, under which Motorola falls, confirmed that they are working on this model. And another proof that the phone is about to go on the market is the Chinese Tenaa certification , which the Moto X40 has already passed. However, the certification did not confirm its trade name at this time, but only the code designation XT2301-5. However, the pictures that are part of the certification statement indicate that it is really a premium phone.
According to the image of the front panel, the Moto X40 phone is curved on all four edges, which is the hallmark of a high-end machine. On the back panel, in the upper left corner, there is a square module of the main camera, which quite prominently rises to the level of the back. It has three sensors and an LED flash. In the middle of the back is the Motorola logo. Tenea hasn't released details about the display yet, but thanks to tipsters, we know it's a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and an integrated fingerprint sensor. Tipsters estimate that the refresh rate will reach 144 Hz, but they do not rule out a frequency of 165 Hz either.
Tenaa's listing states that the Moto X40 is powered by an octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 3.0 GHz, which could be the Snapdragon 8 Gen2. Memory versions with 8/12/18 GB of LPDDR5x operating memory and 128/256/512 GB of internal storage will go to the Chinese market. The 3C certification, in turn, confirmed fast charging with a power of 68 W. It is also likely that the phone will receive a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. As for the photo equipment, we're just speculating here, because Tenaa doesn't talk about cameras. But tipsters estimate that the front camera has 60 MP, i.e. the same as last year's model. Furthermore, the main camera is said to consist of two 50 MP sensors and one sensor with a resolution of 12 MP. We expect Motorola to start promoting the Moto X40 soon and hopefully confirm some of the above.
