Vivo X90 and other phones in the series are here
The Vivo brand had its big day yesterday. In China, it held an introduction event exactly as planned and launched the Vivo X90 phones at it. There are three models in the series, namely the standard X90, X90 Pro and the truly premium X90 Pro Plus. The new phones follow on from the excellent models from the Vivo X80 series, and of course we find several improvements and upgrades. And again, there is excellent photo equipment.
The Vivo X90 phones have an attractive appearance and the manufacturer claims that its designers were inspired by the sunrise, when the sun's disc rises above the sea level into the sky. The sun evokes the large circular module of the main camera, and the shiny horizontal band below it evokes the surface of the sea. The color of the back and its surface treatment also have an elegant effect. There is a red color variant with imitation leather, an Original Black variant also with imitation leather, Extreme Black with an AG glass surface and Ice Blue also with a glass surface. But let's take a look at the specifications of the individual models.
The standard model and the Pro model are similar in several parameters, but the differences can be found in the photo equipment, battery capacity and charging. But as always, we will start with the display, which has a diagonal of 6.78 inches and is of the BOE Q9 OLED type. The screen resolution is 2800 × 1260 pixels, the refresh rate reached 120 Hz, and the brightness reached up to 1300 nits. The display supports 115% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+ and high-frequency 2160 Hz PWM dimming. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display.
Both phones are powered by Dimensity 9200 processor with Immortalis-G715 graphics. It is paired with 8/12 GB of operating memory and 128/256/512 GB of internal storage. Connectivity is represented by 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS (L1/L5), GLONASS, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1. The manufacturer also added IR blaster, stereo speakers and in the Pro model a CS43131 Hi-Fi chip. The operating system is Android 13 with OriginOS 13 for the Chinese market and FunTouchOS 13 for global markets.
And now we come to what makes the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro different. First of all, it is the capacity of the battery and charging. The first of the phones has a 4810mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging. The Pro model has a 4870mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Other differences can be found in the photo equipment. The Vivo X90 has a primary 50 MP Sony IMX866 sensor with OIS support, a 12 MP wide-angle lens with a 108° field of view and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. There is also automatic laser focus, a Vivo V2 chip and Zeiss optics. The Pro version has a 50 MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor with OIS support, a 12 MP Sony IMX663 wide-angle lens and a 50 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Here, too, there is automatic laser focus, the Vivo V2 chip and Zeiss optics. The front camera has a resolution of 32 MP in both cases.
The highest model of the whole series has an E6 LTPO AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.78 inches, a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels and a dynamic refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The sampling frequency reached 1200 Hz and the brightness up to 1800 nits. Among other things, the screen supports MEMC and 1440 Hz PWM Vision dimming. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is integrated into the screen.
The phone is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, which is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512 |GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. Connectivity is represented by 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1. There is also an IR blaster, stereo speakers, Hi -Fi chip CS43131 and IP68 certified resistance. The operating system is Android 13 with OriginOS 13 for the Chinese market and FunTouchOS 13 for global markets. The battery has a capacity of 4700 mAh and supports 80 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging.
The photo equipment is really at the top level. The main camera consists of a primary 1-inch 50 MP Sony IMX989 sensor with OIS support, a 48 MP Sony IMX598 wide-angle lens with 114° coverage and OIS, a 64 MP Sony IMX758 periscopic telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom and 50 MP Sony IMX758 portrait lens with OIS. Automatic laser focus, Vivo V2 chip and Zeiss optics are not missing. The front camera has a 32 MP sensor.
