Samsung beware – Sony Xperia 1 V is coming!

The Sony Xperia 1 V may not be officially unveiled at the MWC event in Barcelona. However, Sony is working on a flagship that is going to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. How do we know that? Well, the actual photos of this device have just been leaked. And at first glance, it looks like the Xperia 1 V could indeed be the hottest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device out there. And yes, it can definitely challenge Samsung with its newly introduced S23 series.

Although the leaked image of the device doesn't provide much information, it does let us know what to expect from the camera department. From the leaked image of the Xperia 1 V, it looks like Sony has ditched the RGB infrared sensor and the ToF camera. That leaves the new device with three large sensors.

In comparison, the Sony Xperia 1 V's sensors now look larger than those found on the 1 IV. If you want to know what these sensors could be, the bottom one is definitely a periscope camera. And the middle one looks like the primary sensor, while the top one is likely to be a wide-angle lens.

Compared to the 1 IV , the Xperia 1 V has the LED flash in a different location. While the Model 1 IV had it outside the camera island, the Model 1 V integrated it into the camera island.

According to a well-known Chinese leakster , the Xperia 1 V smartphone will also be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is a matter of course for this year's flagship. Interestingly, the leakster claims that it will be the thinnest device with this SoC. This means that Sony seems to have packed a unique cooling solution into the phone.

However, even if the phone won't be announced at the MWC event, we expect more leaks to surface soon. Stay tuned.
