Earlier we mentioned that there is only one day left until the planned launch of the Nubia Z50 Ultra. A few hours before the presentation, the phone passed the Geekbench tests , which confirmed not only its decent performance, but also the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor used. So we are dealing with a truly premium device that has just been introduced . It will thus complement the standard Z50 model from the end of last year on the market .
The appearance of the Nubia Z50 Ultra is worthy of being called premium. Unlike others, the phone is "angular" with a flat display, edges and back panel. We don't find any "hole" or cut-out for the front camera on the screen, as it lies below it. The main camera module takes up almost one third of the back and is really impressive. The phone is also the first in the Nubia Z range to feature a red slider on the edge that can be customized. In terms of colors, there is a black and gray variant, but also a Starry Night blue variant, which is inspired by a painting by Vincent van Gogh.
The display itself is of the AMOLED type with a diagonal of 6.8 inches, a resolution of 2480 × 1116 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The sampling frequency reached 960 Hz. The screen supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 10-bit color depth, 1440Hz PWM dimming and up to 1500 nits brightness.
The premium phone also includes a powerful flagship processor. The manufacturer therefore reached for the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset, which was complemented by 8/12/16 GB of operating memory and 256/512 GB and 1 TB of internal storage. Connectivity is represented by 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, USB-C, NFC and IR blaster. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display. There are also dual stereo speakers and powerful liquid cooling with a vapor chamber. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 80 W. The operating system is Android 13 with MyOS 13 superstructure.
The big attraction of the Nubia Z50 Ultra model is undoubtedly the photo equipment. And since it's one of the few phones on the market that has an under-display front-facing camera, we'll take a look at it first. It is the fourth generation of a camera designed in this way. Plus, it's custom made to match the most popular focal lengths used in DSLRs. The OmniVision OV16E1Q sensor has a resolution of 16 MP, a pixel size of 2.24μm and an aperture of f/2.0. The manufacturer claims that light transmission has increased by up to 30%.
The main camera is triple with a primary 64 MP Sony IMX787 sensor. The sensor has OIS support, an aperture of f/1.6 and an equivalent focal length of 35 mm. The second sensor has a resolution of 50 MP and works as a wide-angle lens with a coverage of 116°, 85 mm focal length and AF support. The last 64 MP sensor is a periscopic telephoto lens.
The Nubia Z50 Ultra phone is already in pre-order status in the Chinese market, with sales starting on March 14. The prices of individual memory versions are as follows:
