Google's introduction of the Magic Eraser feature alongside the Pixel 6 has enabled users to eliminate subjects from photo backgrounds. A recently surfaced video on X (formerly Twitter) indicates that Google has taken this concept a step further with an audio version called Audio Magic Eraser.
This video snippet strongly suggests that the Audio Magic Eraser will make its debut with the Pixel 8 lineup. Similar to its visual counterpart, this feature will be seamlessly integrated into the Google Photos app, enabling users to effectively remove background noise from videos.
Within the editing interface, a slider will grant users control over the extent to which background sounds are filtered out. The tool is designed to recognize a minimum of three sound categories: "Noise," "People," and "Music."
In addition to this, the video also showcases the new blue color variant of the Google Pixel 8 Pro. For a firsthand look at the functionality of the Audio Magic Eraser, the video clip below offers a demonstration.
While the initial release of the Magic Eraser was limited to select Pixel smartphones, Google expanded its availability a few months ago to encompass all Pixel users. It has also been extended to non-Pixel and iOS users through the Google Photos app, provided they hold a subscription to Google One. As for the Audio Magic Eraser, it appears to be an exclusive feature for the Pixel 8 series, and its potential extension to other Pixel and non-Pixel devices remains uncertain.
