Samsung is working on a 440 MPix photo sensor

Samsung is a champion in the release of photo sensors. Prim holds its own with sensors with a resolution of 200 MPix. It already has the Isocell HP1, Isocel HP3, Isocell HPX sensors and this year the 200 MPix Isocell HP2 sensor added to the range . This last sensor can be found, for example, in the premium phone Galaxy S23 Ultra . But it doesn't end there and the figure skating will continue. Next year, the manufacturer plans to produce exactly three new sensors, including one with a resolution of 440 MPix.

THE UPCOMING SAMSUNG SENSORS ARE SAID TO HAVE A RESOLUTION OF 50 MPIX, 200 MPIX AND 440 MPIX

Tipster Revegnus drew attention to the preparation of three new Samsung sensors . They claim that a 50 MPix Isocell GN6 sensor with a 1.6μm pixel size and a 200 MPix Isocell HP7 sensor with a 0.6μm pixel size are in the pipeline. But the most interesting is the last of the three upcoming sensors, the 440 MPix sensor Isocell HU1. However, the pixel size has not yet been confirmed.

The tipster expects Samsung to complete the development of the sensors soon and they could go into mass production in the second half of next year. So it's obvious that we won't see them in phones anytime soon. Additionally, the tipster believes that these sensors will not be used in Samsung products. After all, it wouldn't be the first time Samsung sensors were used by third parties. It is even possible that the manufacturer is preparing the last of the sensors for industrial use, for example in cars.

In another post, Revegnus adds that Samsung is also preparing a sensor with a resolution of 320 MPix. In this case, it is possible that it is being tailored to one of the flagship phones of the Galaxy S series. However, we will not see it anytime soon. It is said to be likely that the manufacturer will implement it up to the Galaxy S26 Ultra phone. And there is still a few years to go. Conversely, the 200 MPix HP7 sensor may appear in the Galaxy S25 Ultra model. But the costs of its production are still too high. And the 50 MPix GN6 sensor is also said to be expensive, but Chinese smartphone manufacturers are said to be considering it. Information about the upcoming sensors is still very fragmented, so let's wait and see how everything turns out in the finale.
