Rumors have been swirling that Xiaomi is working on a groundbreaking smartphone without any physical buttons, set to launch in the first half of next year. Codenamed "Zhuque," this upcoming device is expected to come in two versions: one with support for satellite communication and one without. This innovation marks a significant shift in smartphone design and technology.
Recent leaks on the SmartPrix website provide a closer look at Xiaomi's buttonless phone. The device's unique design eliminates physical buttons, allowing for a significantly larger display area and a sleek, smooth center frame. However, the question remains—how will users interact with this phone without buttons? Speculations suggest it could involve gesture controls, voice commands, or pressure-sensitive edges.
This design overhaul also includes an under-display front camera, a technology already seen in devices from ZTE and Samsung, but Xiaomi may take it to the next level. The buttonless phone is expected to be a flagship model, powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen4 processor (codenamed SM8775). However, since the chipset's launch isn't anticipated until the second quarter of next year, the phone will likely debut around the same time.
The Xiaomi 15S Pro is another device expected to feature the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen4 chipset, with a potential launch between April and June 2025. While the buttonless phone's innovative design is intriguing, only time will tell if it will become a market sensation or remain a niche product. As always, we'll have to wait and see what the future holds.
