Pixel 10 Pro XL Outshines iPhone 16 Pro Max on DxOMark
Google’s latest flagship, the Pixel 10 Pro XL, has made waves in the smartphone world by scoring 163 points on DxOMark, placing it ahead of Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max. Globally, only Huawei’s Pura 80 Ultra, Oppo’s Find X8 Ultra, and Vivo’s X200 Ultra scored higher.
Impressive Camera Performance
The Pixel 10 Pro XL achieved 165 points in photography and 160 points in video, demonstrating its versatility as an all-rounder rather than specializing in one area. Its six-camera setup includes:
- 50MP main sensor (f/1.68, OIS)
- 48MP ultra-wide sensor (13mm, f/1.7)
- 48MP telephoto lens (5x zoom, f/2.8, OIS)
DxOMark highlighted the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s accurate exposure, natural colors, and wide dynamic range. The main camera scored an impressive 173 points, though testers noted occasional lens flare outdoors and some noise in low-light conditions.
Portrait and Ultra-Wide Camera Results
Portrait mode scored 160 points, offering good subject separation with minor depth errors. The ultra-wide camera achieved 158 points, delivering sharp detail and a wide 13mm field of view. The telephoto lens scored 141 points, performing well at 5x zoom but showing some weaknesses at medium distances.
Video Capabilities
Video performance earned an overall score of 160. The main camera scored 171 points with stable exposure, smooth color reproduction, and natural skin tones. Stabilization was effective for static shots but slightly shaky during walking shots. The ultra-wide camera scored 145 points in daylight but underperformed indoors, while the telephoto lens scored 118 points, delivering sharp details at 5x zoom but struggling at shorter focal lengths.
Individual Use Case Scores
- Outdoor: 176
- Indoor: 165
- Portrait: 143
- Low Light: 138
- Zoom: 134
The Pixel 10 Pro XL excels in wide dynamic range, controlled noise in bright light, realistic skin tones, reliable autofocus, and detailed 5x telephoto shots. Weaknesses include low-light noise, outdoor glare, and video shakiness while walking.
Conclusion: A Reliable All-Rounder
While Google’s previous Pixel 9 Pro briefly held second place on DxOMark, the Pixel 10 Pro XL now ranks fourth. Despite not dominating a single category, it proves to be a solid all-around camera smartphone, consistently delivering high-quality photos and videos across multiple scenarios.
