Apple is still at the forefront of the TWS segment, but the decline in AirPods shipping caused Apple's market share to fall below 302 Q2 2021. "One of the reasons Apple's sharp decline is due to a tight comparison compared to a strong quarter last year," Canalis said. Research Manager Jason Lowe. “Despite the ups and downs, Apple’s key advantage is clear – it has a user ecosystem that is heavily faithful to its products, and it is one of the few smart device vendors that has stronger leverage over content, which it can combine with its audio hardware to create unique experiences. The release of new AirPods in the second half of the year will prop the category up again, but the growing saturation of its iOS and macOS installed base could be a cause of worry.”

Xiaomi took second place in the TWS market, regaining its position from Samsung with 5.3 million and 5.2 million with relevant shipping. Speaking about the neck-to-neck competition, Canalist research analyst Cynthia Chen said, “From the end of 2019, the two will be equally compatible. Xiaomi is definitely raising the value chain, offering more premium TWS products, and Samsung is strengthening its self-branding and sub-brand TWS offerings, especially with JBL under Harman affiliate.
