Realme seems to be planning to expand its presence in the premium segment of the smartphone market. The company's chairman shared the news that new flagship models will arrive in the 5,000 yuan range (approximately US $ 780).
Xu Qi, President of the Chinese smartphone maker, said that these upcoming devices will come with high-end specifications and features (via ITHome) targeting the top premium segments of the Chinese market. The executive did not reveal any details at the moment, he said, adding that we can expect the launch of this high-end premium smartphone in early 2022.
Significantly, Realme will join Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, which are expanding in the Ultra premium stock market in China. Therefore, we can expect a number of new mobile phones from different brands competing against each other next year. For those unfamiliar, the ultra premium category smartphones are generally dominated by Apple and Samsung in the global market, with their flagship models priced at around 5,000 yuan or more.
Chinese brands have become well-known for devices that offer great value for entry-level money up to budget-leading levels, and these brands are now seeking to expand their presence in the top segment as well. Unfortunately, it is not known in which series Realme will launch new flagship devices, but it could be a new annual flagship lineup like the Galaxy S series. However, this is only an assumption, so take it with a little salt for now.
