All other Chinese smartphone brands have benefited from Huawei's international crash (with the exception of Honor), with Xiaomi making the most of it.
According to Canalys, in the second quarter of 2021, Xiaomi became the second largest smartphone maker globally in terms of sales.
As you can see, while Samsung still ranks No. 1 with 19% market share, Xiaomi continues to pose a significant challenge to Samsung with 17% market share.
Xiaomi is a well-known brand that offers a lot of features at a low price.
Xiaomi shipped more than 300% in Latin America, 150% in Africa and 50% in Western Europe. Its average selling price is still 40% lower than Samsung and 75% lower than Apple.
Xiaomi has recently launched premium devices and they clearly hope to increase that number in the future.
Canalyst says Xiaomi's goal should be to increase sales of phones like the Mi 11 Ultra, but Oppo and Vivo have practically the same goal, which can be challenging and they like to spend a lot, unlike Xiaomi.
If its growth continues at a steady pace, Xiaomi could overtake Samsung to become the world's No. 1 smartphone vendor in a timely manner. Apple is currently up 14%, while OPPO and VIVO are up 10%.
