Introducing the New Honor Play 40 and Honor Pad X8 Pro: Unveiling Impressive Upgrades

Honor has just launched its latest offerings, the Honor Play 40 smartphone and the Honor Pad X8 Pro tablet. These devices not only boast internal improvements but also feature striking design enhancements.

Honor Play 40:

 Honor Play 40

Under the hood, the Honor Play 40 houses the same powerful Snapdragon 480+ chipset found in its predecessor, the Play 30. However, this time, it comes with improved memory configurations: 6/128GB, 8/128GB, and even 8/256GB. Additionally, users have the option to add up to 5GB of virtual RAM. The device runs on MagicOS 7.1, based on Android 13, a notable upgrade from the previous model's Android 11.

The display remains unchanged, featuring a 6.56" LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1,612 pixels and a slightly elongated 20:9 aspect ratio. It now offers a 90Hz refresh rate and a notch that houses a 5MP selfie camera.

The rear camera setup includes a 13MP main module with 1080p video recording capabilities and a newly added 2MP depth sensor. While the addition of the depth sensor is appreciated, some users may have preferred an ultra-wide lens instead.

The battery capacity has been slightly increased to 5,200mAh (up by 200mAh), but it still supports only basic 10W charging. The Honor Play 40 retains the USB-C port and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, the device carries Hi-Res Audio certifications for both wired and wireless audio connections.

The most significant upgrade to the Honor Play 40 is its fresh and distinctive design, now available in four color options. The camera island stands out with a unique surface finish, accompanied by a sparkling ring surrounding the "AI camera" label. The device is already available for purchase through Honor's online store in China, with the base 6/128GB model priced at CNY 1,380 ($190/€175/₹15,700).

Honor Pad X8 Pro:

The Honor Pad X8 Pro boasts a larger 11.5" IPS LCD display compared to the Pad X8's 10.1" screen. With a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels, 100% sRGB coverage, and a peak brightness of 400 nits (with a minimum brightness of 2 nits), the tablet offers an immersive visual experience. Users can choose between 120Hz, 90Hz, or 60Hz refresh rate options. The device also delivers exceptional audio quality with six speakers (two on each of the three sides).

 Honor Pad 8 Pro

Powered by a Snapdragon 685 chipset, the Honor Pad X8 Pro offers flexible memory options, including 4/6/8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It runs on MagicOS 7.1, based on Android 13.

Encased in a slim and lightweight 6.9mm metal body, weighing just 495g, the tablet incorporates a sizable 7,250mAh battery capable of delivering up to 13 hours of video playback. The Honor Pad X8 Pro is available in three color variations, matching the design aesthetics of the Honor Play 40 smartphone. Interested buyers can now purchase the 6/128GB version through Honor's online store in China for CNY 1,100 ($150/€140/₹12,500).
