Red Magic 8S Pro and Magic 8S Pro Plus debut in China
Exactly according to the previous plan, new gaming phones were launched in the Chinese market yesterday . Yes, there are Red Magic 8S Pro and Magic 8S Pro Plus models in the world. Both phones have great parameters, gaming features and an attractive design. Probably the most interesting part of the phones' equipment is the processor used, which is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen2 chipset and which is also referred to by the letter S in the names of the new gaming machines. So let's take a closer look at the specifications.
THE DESIGN AND DISPLAY OF THE RED MAGIC 8S PRO SERIES PHONES
In terms of design, the Red Magic 8S Pro and Magic 8S Pro Plus phones are essentially the same. So the look we recently saw in the official renders was confirmed. The phones go to market with a back panel that has an etched micro texture. This gives the back a metallic sheen. In addition, the Deuterium variant with a transparent back panel is also on the market. We also see a fan with RGB backlighting on the back. The front panel has a large usable area, as the front camera lies below the display.
The display of both models of the Red Magic 8S Pro series is of the OLED type. It has a diagonal of 6.8 inches, a resolution of 2480 × 1116 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The sampling frequency reached 960 Hz and the brightness up to 1300 nits. The screens support 10-bit color depth, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and 1440 Hz PWM dimming.
OTHER SPECIFICATIONS
As already mentioned, the Red Magic 8S Pro gaming machine is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen2 processor, which is also dubbed the Advanced Edition. It is a faster version of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset, which has the primary core overclocked from 3.2 GHz to 3.36 GHz, and the GPU clock has increased from 680 GHz to 719 GHz. Overclocking resulted in 5% more performance on the CPU and 5.7% on the GPU. The manufacturer added 8/12/16/24 GB of operating memory and 128/256/512 GB and 1 TB of internal storage to the chipset.
Connectivity is represented by 5G NSA/A, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax (2.4 GHz/5 GHz/6 GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS (L1/L5), GLONASS, USB-C, NFC and 3, 5 mm audio jack. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display and also supports heart rate detection. Players will not be deprived of stereo speakers and three microphones. It is also improved with the ICE 12.0 cooling system with a built-in fan. In the case of the Red Magic 8S Pro, the battery has a capacity of 6000 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 80 W. The Magic 8S Pro Plus model has a 5000 mAh battery with support for 165 W charging. The operating system is Android 13 with Redmagic OS 8.0 game superstructure.
PHOTO EQUIPMENT, PRICES AND AVAILABILITY
The front camera of both models is located under the display and received a 16 MP OmniVision OV16A1Q sensor. The main camera is triple. It consists of a primary 50 MP Samsung GN5 sensor with a size of 1/1.57 inches. There is also an 8 MP wide-angle lens with a 120° field of view and a 2 MP macro lens.
The Red Magic 8S Pro series phones are already in pre-order status in the Chinese market, sales will start on July 11/July. It is likely that at least one of the models will reach global markets. The Chinese prices of each version are as follows:
