Snapdragon Sound is an audio platform on Qualcomm that can be found on the next generation audio terminals coming from OEMs like Xiaomi. Its manufacturer has announced that it will support graded and lost audio technology to reproduce "CD-quality" audio at high bitrate rates.
Qualcomm has already announced that Snapdragon Sound will seamlessly integrate with its high-end mobile platforms to provide specifications such as AptX adaptation, volume optimization for smart speakers, and super wide band enhancements for voice calls.
They can be found in the next generation of audio devices as well as mobile devices such as the Snapdragon Insider smartphone from Asus. Now, OEM has revealed another advanced feature developed for the new platform: aptX Lossless Audio.
This new sound-word will support audio up to 16.1 bit 44.1kHz via Bluetooth on terminals powered by Snapdragon Sound Audio SOC. It is designed to be activated automatically when a lossless source is detected, and can be scaled up to this level depending on the quality of the relevant wireless connection. Qualcomm made this announcement with the recent Steve Ayoki Snapdragon Loudspeaker experience.
The event helped Qualcomm announce that 20 companies have acquired Snapdragon Sound for their next audio production. They are expected to hit the market with new releases from Master & Dynamic, Xiaomi and Edifier.
